It Takes a Village
Congratulations to the Little School in North Reading and it’s Parent Teacher Organization Playground Committee in making a dream a reality. About six years ago the Little School Principal Christine Molle approached the PTO wanting to fundraise to relocate and replace the unsafe wooden playground structure. Unfortunately there were no tax dollars to fund the project. Mrs. Molle appreciated the hard work of the PTO that fundraises and provides over $25,000.00 each year in enrichment programs, field trips, technology, and many other tools to enhance the students’ education. But everyone realized the need, so a Playground Committee was formed and separate fundraisers occurred.
The committee, administration and parents worked tirelessly in raising funds, obtaining quotes, hiring professional site surveyors, getting governmental approvals, etc. The North Reading community was extremely generous in opening their hearts and wallets. Businesses donated funds and auction/raffle items. Parent Organizations of other North Reading schools raised funds for the project and supported events. It took a village and now the installation of the new structure will commence at the end of April.
Congratulations to Mrs. Molle who had the vision and the Playground Committee whose determined efforts have brought this dream to fruition. Because of this special community, all children will be able to have an active and safe playground at the Little School. Your reward: the priceless smiles on the children’s faces. It’s never too late to donate – visit littlepto.org!
